We chose the name "Econo-Log" for our designs because there are all kinds of ways to build a log home. The
term has nothing to do with the quality of materials we use, but in how they are used.
The most economical way to build a log cabin is with 4 log corners and a straight ridge line on the roof system
with at least a partial second level. Whenever you start adding additional corners in the log wall system and
additional lines in the roof system you start adding to the final cost of the usable living area without increasing
that area. Also, there is consideration of how the finished interior will look.
Our standard basic plan incorporates
an all wood interior over a conventional framed roof system and loft system. This is a little more expensive than
painted drywall, but well worth it! We are not fans of drywall in a log home. Where the significant extra expense
comes into play in a log home is when you use the heavy timber exposed beam loft and roof system. That is why we
offer them as options. They are beautiful, but they are expensive. We want to do it your way, but within your budget.
